Message the internals will fail after this many RPMs. sometimes it is just set because the horsepower falls off dramatically after that RPM. I have a 355 small block with stock internals in my Monte Carlo SS. Generally, the redline on an engine like this is 5500 - 6000 RPMs, but the internals are actually good up to 7200 RPMs. I don't run it that high because my power falls off pretty hard after 6500. As nytwolf said, balancing is important in a high rpm engine. Some aftermarket components are stronger simply because they are lighter and put less stress on each other. I don't think that 8000 RPMs is unreasonable for stock components in the bottom end. However I have never built a high revving VG30DETT. Strong valve springs are a must in high RPMs to prevent "floating". We used ARP stud bolt kits to increase the bottm end strength in small block chevy's. You may be able to get better information if you tell us what you are trying to accomplish with this engine. Someone on here has surely done something at least similar.
